One random act of kindness a day!

I was watching a movie with my 9 year old daughter the other day and the big question of the movie was: “How do I make this world a better place?”  The answer was: “One random act of kindness a day!”

My little Naya immediately suggested: “I want to do that, I want to help! Mom, let’s go pick up the garbage on the beach”, and so we did.

But then what?

“What other random acts of kindness can we do Mom?” “What’s next?”

We were thinking about it together and we felt that it could either be doing something for another Being or giving something to another Being.  We set the intention for ourselves to affect life in a positive way on a daily basis through random acts of kindness.

We all want a better world.  We all need a better world.  My daughter wants a better world!  We cannot rely on politicians to do this for us!  Nobody can do it for us but ourselves!

So if children understand the importance of making changes and the ease and grace of giving kindness randomly to Beings in need, then why can’t we adults lead by example?

We do New Years Eve resolutions and commit ourselves to becoming better versions of ourselves.  Sometimes we even stick to our resolutions.  But generally we slip back into the old rut of the comfort zone of what we know.  We mainly focus on ourselves, our own lives and goals.  We get caught up in what we don’t have yet but want or even feel we need; Thinking that “achieving” or “getting” that will make our own world better and that’s when we’ll finally be able to help make a difference.

We all know that’s not going to happen!Feb 2013 Image

So how about for this year we all commit to doing one random act of kindness a day?

How about we become better versions of ourselves by giving kindness in some way, shape or form on a daily basis?

2013 must be different and 2013 must be special.  Only we can make it special and different ourselves.

Imagine if everybody would participate in one act of random kindness a day,!?  Not once but on a daily basis, letting “doing something for another” become a new habit, a new programming.  How great would that be!?  It would have a great impact on ourselves and on our surroundings.

And it is a wonderful exercise that you can focus on with your children or grandchildren.  What a wonderful activity to live with our children and teach our children (or let them teach us).  Children are so smart and the concerns of our world bother them, they understand that help is needed.  They also understand that two little hands do make a difference.

The impact that giving has on the self is tremendous.  It opens the heart, it lightens the energy, it promotes and increases love vibration, which results in greater health, better feeling, better thinking, which then results in making better choices, better speaking…. And so on.

It is priceless and in my opinion and the New Year resolution we all need.

I am committed, I am all the way in.  As a matter of fact I have already begun, why wait ;0)))

Lets make this world a better place, one random act of kindness a day!

With Love and Light,

Britta

What is spirituality?

I feel that it is time for the free thinkers and consciousness revolutionaries amongst us to redefine old attachments and meanings to certain words.  One of these words is “spirituality”.

When I googled the word “spiritualist,” I found this description, “A person who communicates with spirits and promotes churches …” Interesting.  The definition seems to fit popular perception that a spiritual person is either a witch or a person devoted a particular religion  Either perspective can create the view of a spiritual person as a self-marginalized individual.

To me, the word “spiritual” is infinitely less limiting – I see everything as spiritual: the ocean, the forest, animals, laughter, communication, a hurricane or a baby being born.

To me, at the deepest level of the meaning of spirituality is the essence of everything in existence.  One may call it the grid, or the matrix or the energetic web of pure potential and possibility that interconnects us all.

I do feel spirituality to be of a love and light vibration.  Spirituality holds for me the quality of “goodness,” of “doing the right thing” and of treating every Being is an honest, respectful manner.  Does this sound naïve and if so does it then marginalize me as a Pollyanna? Or worse, does it marginalize me as an atheist?

Is spirituality free from religion!  Free from ritual or liturgy?

I say no.  Spirituality is ALL of these things and more.  It is uber-inclusive, uber-non-marginalizing.  It is the superset of all other.   Spirituality is not religion, but religion is a form of spirituality practice. Spirituality doesn’t care if you are a witch or a zealot.  It doesn’t care where you live, what you do for work and how much money you make. Everybody is able to choose spirituality, no matter which religion, place of birth, place of occupation or skin color.

On the conscious Human level, I believe spirituality is about choosing to be your true best self.  No matter who you are, I see you as spiritual in your essence. Spirituality is a practice.  Through practice you learn who you are and why you are here.  Your practice helps you make conscious choices that shape a life that make this self-realization possible.

A conscious, spiritual practice really gets challenged when something negative, dark or bad happens.  It is easy or easier to remain spiritual when all is well and one feels good but what happens when things go “bad”?  This is when a spiritual perspective is needed more than ever in my opinion.

In this light then, we can go further.  In fact everything has potential to be accepted as spiritual or even made spiritual through the power of perception.  A person practicing spirituality sees everything as spiritual in its essence  – he/she sees a world of potential even as seemingly dark and negative events and people present themselves.  This shift in perspective is the key to unlocking levels to which a Human Being can consciously choose spirituality.

Again, it is not about being in denial or acknowledging the pain and suffering which often occurs through challenges.  It is rather about aligning with the grid of the unconditional love perspective that pierces through the immediate experience into the depth of the truth. It is that any challenge is truly opportunity for growth, for healing and for activating more love and light potential, all of which awaits at the core of the experience.  Most often this also requires a solid dose of compassion for all involved.

Again, no matter who we are or where we are, we all have the power to reach for perspectives that bring out the good in everybody and everything.  Then, a spiritualist is a person who consciously chooses to seek out the highest possible perspective within any other Being or situation.  A Being who challenges the self to let go of judgment of any person or situation and who understands which choice in perspective will feed darkness and which choice in perspective will feed light. In this way, all who choose to find this alignment with compassion, unconditional love and wisdom activate the grid of pure love potential, activating the light.   This would make in my opinion a spiritualist a light worker ;0)))

Three Fingers Point Back

There is a great saying and it goes something like this: “When you point your finger, three fingers always point back at yourself.”

Try it now and see for yourself.

This should leave an excellent visual memory imprint in your brain that, if you choose, could be an anchor or reminder whenever you begin to point a finger whether you attempt to do so mentally or physically.

Okay, so back to our journey of conscious spiritual evolution … on your ultimate voyage toward self-awareness, by definition you need to check in with yourself in order to evolve. In this case, I am here to remind you that finger pointing has it’s own self-check mechanism.

What does it really mean to point a finger? In its simplest form, finger pointing is meant to bring attention to some person or thing. This “pointing out” however very often becomes a less innocent “act” and turns into blame and judgment. If and when one is serious or conscious about his or her journey one knows that blame and judgment are “consciousness traps” and require a bigger picture perspective that certainly includes the self.

When the time arrives where you do lovingly catch yourself as you are about to judge something as ”bad”, “less than” or “blaming”, you may now make the choice to notice your three fingers pointing back at yourself.  This is wonderful opportunity for you because you are wishing to grow and evolve, to shift out of those old, outdated and boring patterns into supportive, exciting and new preferred patterns.  This is your opportunity to follow your own three fingers back to yourself and to take responsibility. TAKE A LOOK! The three fingers are wanting to tell you, “Look at yourself, this is your own journey, don’t worry about anybody else’s journey, it’s about you.”

In Germany we have a saying which after translation goes something like this, “Don’t worry about your neighbors mess, clean up your own yard first.”
Now lets say that there is nothing on your end to take responsibility for…(rare, but it does happen), at a minimum you will be proud for “catching yourself” pointing a finger and you may also now practice compassion and clarity in seeing everything instead.

Talk about a win-win solution.

Your Practice

“It’s all about the practice.”

This month’s blog is stretching the importance of the “practice.”We have a wonderful saying in our culture: “Practice makes perfect.”A strong practice will ensure the proper placement of new habits, abilities and goals.

We are living in a world where the pursuit for instant gratification has left very little room for space and time to engage with the self on an internal level. Ironically, instant gratification may take a lifetime. Permit me to illuminate the choice presented here: chasing after instant gratification over and over again to only find very brief relief that soon needs more of the same, sucked into a vicious cycle, vs. staying committed to growing and developing the self, taking the time it may take to find permanent relief, accomplishment and a real sense of satisfaction.

The point is that change takes time, it happens slowly and gradually, especially change that you have purposefully, willfully chosen. Whatever your heart desires for yourself, it is in the steadfast pursuit and practice of this pursuit that you will come to manifest that which you are consciously choosing. The nature of your pursuit does not matter; you have to prepare for it, and practice it every day! At the very least think about it, visualize it, every day!

I hear the same excuse over and over and it is: “Yeah I tried it for a few days but it didn’t work … so I stopped.” “Practice makes perfect.” You must practice, every day, if you wish to create permanent results. Keep it in the frontal lobe, in your consciousness mind; keep going since it takes 21 days to program a new habit.

Everything is a practice by the way. Whether you wish to breathe more consciously, focus on eliminating negative thoughts exchanging them with positive ones, change behaviors, exercise more, improve nutrition, be writing more, be singing more, be more present, work better … Your success lies in the practice!

Now once you put your mind to it and you keep at it you will notice results, there is no other way! So let’s say you do focus on your practice and you begin to feel good about your results; you are growing! It can happen that something in your life occurs and you become distracted for a long enough period of time for you to slip back into the old comfort zone. This is when you want to know that the new programming you have created is still there and all you need to do is start focusing on it again, coming back into the practice and you will find yourself experiencing the same result, perhaps even more so, an even stronger sense of memory and establishment. This is when you may want to keep going. Two steps forward, one step back, two steps forward one step back…!

Practice is what keeps you young, alert and alive.

Britta

Change to Believe in

Hello to you all.

This months Blog is addressing the most present situation in our country beside this month’s election: our economy.

What is happening you may ask?  How will all this go? Where will this all take us? My response is: ”Into the consciousness shift we have been expecting.”

I don’t mean to belittle any of the personal painful experiences such as the loss of a job, loss of value in stocks, loss of retirement money or even the fear of loss itself.

From the spiritual perspective all is timely, all is well. From this spiritual perspective we are all extensions of source, here to grow, evolve and make choices for ourselves that are of the highest for all involved.  We as Humans haven’t been doing too well with that.  Many of us have been choosing the opposite. We have been chasing the all mighty dollar at any expense. We have been exploiting and destroying our earth. We have been exercising reckless power over other countries, Humans, animals and nature.
How could we not expect a correction such as this one to happen?

This correction is supposed to assist us into consciousness.  This is a shift which is meant to bring us back into the awareness of what really matters, what really should be important to us.  Not just within the US but beyond this country’s borders for the entire planet.

I understand if you feel fearful of the future, how could you not, fear is all around you. Fear, however, creates more fear, creating exactly all that we are fearful of.  What is there to fear as the extension of source that you are?  Nothing!

You are here to choose infinite possibilities not create more fear. You are here to choose solutions for yourself and this planet, not create more negativity. And Yes, one person can make a difference.  You can make a difference by not engaging into fear but by trusting. Trust in the possibility of yourself as an extension of source.  Trust in that there are solutions. This trust starts by acknowledging the fear within yourself and the people around you and then to go beyond it.

Breathe and know that every change holds infinite possibilities.  What do you want for yourself and your loved ones?  Be this trust by living as an example. Choose faith in that you are able to have what you need.
Choose that we as Humans will help one another through these hard times.  Choose that what really matters in life is still there and that this wake up call needs to be acknowledged for what it is, a wake up call to Humanity. Here to bring back consciousness of the choices that we are making everyday.

Choose faith I say, choose Love I say, choose compassion I say and choose consciousness of everything you do, say, think and feel.

May all Beings on this planet have enough food to eat, enough clean water to drink, shelter from the elements and peace in their hearts.
